Recreational Therapy Assistant

A Fun and Creative Career Helping Others!

Western Piedmont Community College’s Recreational Therapy Assistant degree program provides you the education to develop recreational activities that promote independence, confidence and rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities, injury or illness. Courses that involve learning how to plan, develop and implement activities, such as ropes courses, creative arts and watersports as well as leading or co-leading recreational therapy sessions (social skills, team building, problem solving, etc.) will prepare you to be very successful in this type of career.

If you graduate with an Associate in Applied Science Degree at WPCC, you will be prepared for jobs in:

What You Will Study

Associate in Applied Science

The A.A.S. degree in Recreational Therapy requires 69 hours of coursework, which can be completed in two years of full-time study.

Recreational Therapy Assistant Certificate

This 13-credit hours certificate is designed to meet the specific individual needs by allowing specialized training in recreational therapy education, programming, and activities.
